On Saturday night, Andorra host England in Group I of the European section of qualifying for World Cup 2022.

ANDORRA

The home nation doesn’t have a great record in the international game. In fact, they have won just one of their previous 19 games on the international stage. They have also lost 12 of their last 15 games.

Considering the dearth of players available, it is of little surprise that they struggle to pick up international results.

Andorra have been the whipping boys in most World Cup qualifiers of late, as they have lost nine of their previous ten games in qualifying. The exception was a 2-0 home win over San Marino. The victory was a momentous one, as it was only their second win in 45 qualifiers.

Their home record in qualifying is not woeful, as they have won two, drawn one and lost three of their previous six qualifiers on home soil.

ENGLAND

Gareth Southgate’s team has been big favourites to top the group from the start and the Three Lions currently lead the pack in Group I. Last time out, Poland snatched a late 1-1 draw against the visitors in Warsaw. The game was always likely to be the visitors toughest of the group and they are expected to still comfortably qualify for next years World Cup.

The draw ended a nine-game winning run in qualifying for England. However, the visitors are still unbeaten in their previous 27 qualifiers for the World Cup.

Andorra have no reported injury worries heading into this difficult clash. England boss Gareth Southgate is likely to field some fringe players in this clash.

The likes of Fikayo Tomori, Ollie Watkins and Tammy Abraham have a good chance of making the starting line-up.
