Freiburg vs Werder Bremen

BETTING & MATCH PREVIEW
On Saturday afternoon, Freiburg host struggling Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga, as the hosts look to improve their chances of a top-six spot this season.
The home team are enjoying a very respectable campaign and head into this clash just two points adrift of the European spots in the German top-flight.
Christian Streich’s team has not been in the most consistent form of late. However, they did record a 1-1 draw with RB Leipzig last time out. A record of just two wins out of their previous eight Bundesliga matches is not one of a team with European aspirations.
Freiburg’s recent home form has been decent, as they have won five of their last eight matches in the German top-flight. Their recent home matches have been relatively tight affairs, though, as there has been under 2.5 goals scored in five of their previous seven league games on home soil.
Bremen head into this game in desperate need of points. The visitors have been in the German top-flight for the last 38 years, but that status is majorly in danger this season. Florian Kohfeldt’s team are five points adrift of Fortuna Dusseldorf, who are currently in the relegation play-off berth.
A seven-game winless run is the main cause for Werder Bremen’s current perilous position in the table. Another reason for their recent poor form has been their generous defending, as the visitors have conceded at least two goals in all seven of those winless games.
Four defeats in their last six away games in the German top-flight does not bode well for an away win. One thing that may give Werder a sliver of hope is that they have only lost once in their last seven meetings with Freiburg.
Lukas Kubler is unlikely to figure for the home side. Werder Bremen could be without Kevin Mohwald, Claudio Pizarro and Niclas Fullkrug due to various injury problems.
