BETTING & MATCH PREVIEW
On Saturday evening, Everton have a chance to further their top-four ambitions, as the Toffees welcome Arsenal to Goodison Park.
The Toffees have turned their results around in recent weeks, as Carlo Ancelotti’s team heads into this game on the back of two straight wins over Chelsea and Leicester.
The wins have put the Merseysider’s right back into contention for the top-six or even the top-four this season, despite an injury crisis. They are now just five points behind arch-rivals and league leaders Liverpool.
One negative for the home side is their recent record at Goodison Park, as they have won just one of their previous four top-flight games on home soil. A 1-0 win over Chelsea in their last home match in the Premier League ended a run of two straight home defeats.
The Gunners are enduring a nightmare campaign under Mikel Arteta, who returns to the club where he first made his name as a player in English football. Arsenal head into this match winless in six outings in the Premier League.
A 1-1 home draw against Southampton last time out at least ended a three-game losing run for the team from north London in the top-flight. To add insult to injury centre-back Gabriel was also dismissed.
Arteta’s team are now just five points above the relegation zone, as the pressure continues to increase on the rookie boss.
One positive for the Gunners is that they have a superb record against Everton in recent years, as they have lost just three of the last 28 meetings with the Merseysider’s.
Allan sustained a hamstring injury against Leicester and will miss out on this clash. Lucas Digne is still sidelined, along with Fabian Delph. Seamus Coleman and James Rodriguez are both also still fitness doubts.
