The Champions League 2020/21 Round Of 16 is next month and we have the latest odds for who will finish top goalscorer this year!
Every year, the best players in the world fight it out to finish top goalscorer in the Champions Leauge. It is the biggest competition in club football and it can really propel footballer careers to the next level.
As the best goalscorers in the world play in Europe, it’s a very tough call to say who will finish top. Last season, Lewandowski finished top with 15 goals as his side went on to win the Champions League.
Ronaldo though is the greatest goalscorer in the competition’s history. He has finished top a record seven times and has more goals than anyone with 130 goals in 170 games. On top of this, he also has the record for the most goals in one Champions League campaign with 17 in 2013/14.
Champions League Top Scorer 20/21
Erling Haaland – 21/10
The 2020 Golden Boy winner is a goal-scoring machine and especially in the Champions League. He scored has 16 goals in his first 13 games in the competition setting a record. On top of this, Haaland has scored in every single group stage game he has played in and his current form is still right up there. He has 41 goals in 42 games for Dortmund and is proving to be one of the best strikers in the world already!
Haaland has eight goals so far so is in good form. Dortmund are 3-2 up against Sevilla in this round and with three away goals, they’ll expect to go through. Haaland can score against any side in the world and he will back himself to get a few more in this seasons competition.
Robert Lewandowski – 11/2
The Bayern Munich frontman was pivotal in his side winning the Champions League last season. He finished top goalscorer with 15 and is fourth in the all-time list for the competition with 71. His side are the favourites to win the competition this season at 11/4 and so Lewandowski should have a lot of games to score goals in.
Lewandowski has three goals so far in the Champions League. He is a fantastic player and would have won the Ballon d’Or this year, had it of taken place. Up next for Bayern in the Champions League is Lazio. Bayern should have no problem getting past these and Lewandowski will fancy himself to get a goal or two. Even though he is three behind Haaland currently, you wouldn’t bet against him being up there at the end of the 20/21 competition.
Neymar – 7/1
The PSG forward set a new record this season when he became the first-ever player to score 20 goals for two different clubs in the Champions Leauge. Neymar is on six goals in this seasons competition.
His side are 4-1 up against Barcelona in this round. PSG are pretty much through which is going to give Neymar an extra set of games to score in. Neymar will most probably not feature in the next leg due to missing the first with injury and they won’t want to risk him. PSG have a new manager now in Mauricio Pochetinno and he might bring a new lease of life to the team and Neymar.
Kylian Mbappe – 17/2
Mbappe has flown up the top-scoring ranks recently with his hattrick against Barcelona in the Round Of 16. He now has five goals in the competition and should progress through to the next round.
Mbappe has the ability to score past any team. He is very fast, with fantastic close control and dribbling. He will fancy his chances against any defender in world football at the moment and if they get a good draw in the next round he could have a lot of games left.
