On Friday night, Dortmund host Freiburg at Signal Iduna Park, as the home side look to continue their challenge for the Bundesliga title.

BVB produced a late comeback at Eintracht Frankfurt last time out to record a 3-2. All three goals came in the last 20 minutes. The win moved Marco Rose’s team to within six points of league leaders Bayern Munich.

The victory was much-needed, as it came on the back of a 3-2 defeat at Hertha Berlin.

Dortmund’s recent record in the Bundesliga has been inconsistent of late, as they have won two of their last five matches in the German top-flight.

However, BVB have been formidable on home soil in the Bundesliga, winning 12 of their last 13 league games at Signal Iduna Park. They have also scored at least two goals in all 13 of those recent home matches.

Freiburg

The visitors have certainly been one of the surprise packages of the season in the Bundesliga. Christian Streich’s team currently sit fourth-place in the table.

Their recent league form has not been the best, as they have won just once in their last four matches in the Bundesliga. The team from the Black Forest have won just two of their previous eight matches in the German top-flight.

Freiburg also couldn’t have been more consistent of late on their travels, as they have won two, lost two and drawn one of their previous five away games in the Bundesliga.

Dortmund look set to be without Marcel Schmelzer, Giovanni Reyna, Manuel Akanji, Luca Unbehaun, Dan-Axel Zagadou and Mateu Morey through injury, fitness problems or illness.

Freiburg could be without Mark Flekken, Nico Schlotterbeck and Kiliann Sildillia through illness.
