On Sunday afternoon, Dortmund host Arminia Bielefeld at Signal Iduna Park, in a game that could affect both ends of the Bundesliga table.

BVB are currently second place in the Bundesliga table, nine points behind reigning champions Bayern Munich, with a game in hand on the league leaders in the German top-flight. 

A 1-1 draw at Augsburg in their last league outing was a disappointing result. However, Marco Rose’s team has still managed to win five of their last seven matches in the Bundesliga. BVB have also been prolific of late in the German top-flight, as they have scored at least two goals in eight of their last nine matches in the league. 

Dortmund also has a strong recent home record in the Bundesliga, recording wins in 14 of their last 16 league matches on home soil. 

Arminia Bielefeld

After a decent run of league form at the end of last year and the beginning of 2022, Bielefeld’s form has slipped of late, as the visitors have now lost three of their last four league matches in the Bundesliga. Frank Kramer’s team has also failed to score in all three of those recent defeats. The lack of goals may not be a major surprise, as Arminia are the lowest-scoring team in the Bundesliga this season.

Their impotency in front of goal has contributed to the visitor’s current position of 15^th place in the table, just two points above the relegation playoff spot in the Bundesliga.

Arminia Bielefeld have now suffered back-to-back away defeats in the Bundesliga, against Hoffenheim and Bayer Leverkusen. However, both defeats were understandable considering their opponents are currently fourth and third place respectively in the league table.

Dortmund could be without some key players, as Marco Reus, Erling Haaland, Dan-Axel Zagadou, Marcel Schmelzer, Thomas Meunier, Youssoufa Moukoko and Mateu Morey could all miss out. Arminia Bielefeld have no reported absences through injury or illness.
