Bayern Munich vs Hoffenheim

Bayern vs

On Saturday afternoon, Bayern Munich host Hoffenheim at the Allianz Arena, as the German champions look to stay ahead of the pack at the top of the Bundesliga.

The reigning German champions produced a scintillating display to record a 5-1 away thumping of Bayer Leverkusen last time out. The Bavarians were five goals up before the break against the team that started the matchday as second place in the table.

Despite a good recent run under new head coach Julian Nagelsmann, the men from Munich are still only a point clear of seemingly perennial arch-rivals Dortmund. Meanwhile, Leverkusen and Freiburg also still trail the Munich outfit by three points.

A shock 2-1 defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt in their last home match in the Bundesliga, ended a 30-game unbeaten run on home soil in the German top-flight for the champions.

Sebastian Hoeness returns to the club where he previously coached in the junior ranks. His Hoffenheim team have been the definition of inconsistency of late in the German top-flight. In fact, in their last five league matches, they have won two, lost two and drawn once. Last time out, the visitors recorded a 5-0 home win over Koln.

Hoffenheim have been poor travellers of late, winning just one of their previous 12 away games in the German top-flight. Their recent away matches have been relatively high-scoring, with over 3.5 goals scored in three of their last four matches.

The visitors have a decent recent record against Bayern, well comparatively speaking, as they have won four of the last ten meetings with the Bavarians in all competitions. Not many Bundesliga teams could compete with that when it comes to games against reigning champions. However, they have only ever won once at Bayern in 13 Bundesliga visits, having suffered ten defeats.

Team News

Bayern Munich have a clean bill of health heading into this encounter.

Hoffenheim are expected to be without Havard Nordtveit, Pavel Kaderabek, Ermin Bicakcic, Marco John and Benjamin Hubner through injury.

Match Prediction

Although Hoffenheim have caused Bayern problems in the past, we believe that the Bavarians will record a victory in a high-scoring clash.
