BETTING & MATCH PREDICTION
On Saturday afternoon, Bayern Munich host city rivals Union Berlin at the Allianz Arena, in what is a big Bundesliga derby.
Hansi Flick’s team took control of the Bundesliga title race last time out, as the reigning champions defeated title rivals RB Leipzig 1-0 to move seven points clear of Julian Nagelsmann’s team. The game saw Die Bayern win their fifth straight game in the German top-flight.
However, Bayern followed that vital win over Leipzig with a 3-2 home defeat against PSG in the Champions League quarter-final first leg. The loss was certainly a blow to their hopes of retaining their European crown.
Flick’s team will be confident of getting straight back to winning ways in this clash though, especially as Bayern have won seven of their last eight Bundesliga matches at the Allianz Arena. They have also scored at least two goals in their previous nine league games on home soil.
The visitors are enjoying a strong season in the Bundesliga, as they currently sit seventh place in the table, just four points off the European spots. Unfortunately, their recent form has been mixed, as Urs Fischer’s team head into this big derby game on the back of just one win in their last five Bundesliga outings.
Union’s recent league games have been relatively low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in seven of their last nine outings in the German top-flight. That could well change against their free-scoring rivals.
Bayern are still without top scorer Robert Lewandowski through injury, while Douglas Costa, Serge Gnabry and Corentin Tolisso could all miss out through illness and injury too. Alphonse Davies will miss the game due to suspension.
Union Berlin are expected to be without Taiwo Awoniyi, Leon Dajaku, Anthony Ujah and Sheraldo Becker through injury.
