Bayer Leverkusen vs Bayern Munich

SUN 17 OCT 2021 – KO 14:30

Leverkusen vs

On Sunday afternoon, Bayer Leverkusen host Bayern Munich at the BayArena in what is without a doubt the biggest game of the weekend in the Bundesliga.

Die Werkself have been one of the standout teams in the German top-flight this season. Gerardo Seoane’s team are second in the table, only trailing Sunday’s opponents by an inferior goal difference of four.

A 4-0 win at Arminia Bielefeld last time out was Bayer’s fifth straight win in all competitions. The prolific nature of the home team has been commonplace under Seoane, as they have now scored at least three times in seven of their last eight games in all competitions.

Leverkusen have a pretty strong recent home record in the Bundesliga, as they have won five of their previous seven league outings at the BayArena.

The Bavarians suffered a shock 2-1 home defeat by Eintracht Frankfurt before the international break. The defeat was slightly unfortunate and it ended a nine-match winning run in all competitions for Julian Nagelsmann’s team.

The former RB Leipzig head coach certainly has his team firing on all cylinders in front of goal, as they have scored at least two goals in all nine of those recent victories.

Bayern are unbeaten in their previous four away games in the German top-flight, having scored at least two goals in three of those four unbeaten matches.

The visitors also have a good recent record against Bayer Leverkusen, having won the last four meetings with the home team.

Team News

Bayer Leverkusen are without the suspended Robert Andrich, while Julian Baumgartlinger, Edmond Tapsoba, Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Mitchel Bakker could all miss out due to injury.

Bayern Munich have some absentees too, as Benjamin Pavard is suspended, while Corentin Tolisso and Kingsley Coman could also miss out due to injuries.

Match Prediction

This could be a goal-fest. Bayer have been impressive so far this season but showed against Dortmund that they are maybe not at the level to challenge the best Bundesliga teams just yet. We are backing Bayern Munich to record a narrow victory in a high-scoring encounter.

Odds 8/13
