Sunderland ‘Til I Die returns tomorrow, and after the success of the first one, football fans all around England can’t wait for the second season!
The first series of Sunderland ‘Til I Die followed the North-East club during the 17/18 season. It documented their fall down to League One and the troublesome season they had.
During that year, had two different managers. They started off with Simon Grayson, who went on to be replaced by Chris Coleman. The documentary showed all of this, including a bust-up between the Welsh manager and a Sunderland fan.
On top of this fans got to see ex-Premier League players refusing to play and calling out each other in drunken rants. The series finished with the club being sold and Sunderland getting relegated down to League One.
If not a positive experience for Sunderland fans, it was an inciteful one. Not only did they enjoy watching it, but the whole footballing nation did. We are used to documentaries following clubs on their rise to the top but this one was the opposite.
The new series is out tomorrow and it picks up where the first one left off. Sunderland tries to fight their way back out of League One, however, it ends with tears once again as the club are still there this season.
