Tottenham Hotspur, Its Happened Again

Horror week for Spur sees them lose two and are now nine points off the top!

Off the back of two defeats which arguably Spurs should have won, it would now seem they’re too far off to win the league. The first defeat came away to Burnley on the weekend. Burnley don’t have fantastic form at home only winning five out of 13 games. They also lost to Spurs earlier in the season. However they managed to reverse the result and win 2-1. After the game Pochettino said he felt winning the league was impossible now. He also said that his side are five to ten years off winning the league. Not what you want to hear if your a Spurs fan!

Their second second loss came away to Chelsea. In fairness to Spurs these types of games are hard to predict. Given the current form Chelsea were in though you would have expected Spurs to get a result. Ironically this was the same fixture that ended Spurs’ hopes in the 2015/16 season. To make sure Spurs didn’t forget about this Chelsea fans sang “Tottenham Hotspur, its happened again” during their 2-0 win on Wednesday.

The two defeats now see Spurs third in the table, Man City eight points ahead and Liverpool nine points ahead. Given that there is only ten games left it seems as though it’ll be those two clubs fighting it out for the league title. Bet365 have the current title holders at 8/15 and Liverpool at 6/4 to win the league. If you think Spurs can some how turn it around Bet365 will offer you 150/1.

Things don’t get any easier for the North London side. This weekend they host Arsenal who are in good form and have already beaten Spurs this season. The home side are favourites going into this game but with Alli, Vertonghen and Dier all doubts it could be another tough weekend for Spurs fans.

If Arsenal were to win on Saturday it would mean that themselves, Man United and Chelsea could all be within four points of Pochettinos side. United would be two points behind and Arsenal just one. This would be worrying times for Spurs as they still need to play Man City and Liverpool away. Chelsea are at evens and United are at 11/10 to finish in the top four. Arsenal are slightly outside that on Bet365 at 13/8. However, if you feel Tottenham are truly doing a Tottenham then Bet365 are offering 11/4 on them not to get top four!

With ten games left to go and it being the Premier League anything can happen. However, whats for sure is that its going to be very interesting as the race for the title and Champions League football is well and truly on.
