Given that it’s not been a week since they were told they were being banned from the Champions League for two seasons, this could have been the reason. But given that they could even end up in League Two, you would have thought the fans would want to be there for their remaining Premier League games.
Liverpool and Man United fans revelled in the fact it was so empty. City will be hoping for their fans to fill the ground when Real Madrid visit for the second leg of the Champions League tie.
The title is as good as gone now with Liverpool being 22 points clear of them. City will be concentrating on the Champions League now. They are the favourites to win the competition at 4/1. Pep was brought in to win this competition and if the ban stands, this could be his last chance to do so. He has won it twice before with Barcelona and at 4/1 the odds will only decrease as the competition goes on.
