It’s being reported that a loyal Leicester City fan who placed a £1 bet on his team winning the league has cashed out his 5000/1 bet early, the punter collected over £1100 from Ladbrokes via their early ‘cash out’ option. The 20 year old fan staked the £1 bet back in May 2015, shortly after his team avoided relegation from the Premier League.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror the fan said “Over a grand is too good an offer to turn down and it will go towards trains and tickets to follow Leicester chase the dream in the title run in,”
“Football isn’t cheap these days and the feeling of winning the league will be priceless anyway.”
Currently Leicester sit two points clear at the top of the table with 12 games remaining. Only time will tell if he made the right decision. However, looking at Leicester’s remaining games some punters think the fan has made a costly error. Leicester face Norwich, West Brom, Watford, Newcastle, Palace, Southampton, Sunderland, West Ham, Swansea, Man Utd, Everton and their final game of the season is against Chelsea on the 15th of May. A run of games which on the surface doesn’t look too difficult, indeed the first three fixtures you would expect Leicester to win comfortably. The addition of 9 points from the first three fixtures would have increased the ‘cash out’ amount without significant risk.
You might be thinking that this lucky punter must be the most optimistic Leicester fan in the world? well, you’d be wrong! Back in December Ladbrokes got hit once again by a Foxes fan who fancied his team to be top of the table at Christmas! The 1000/1 bet was settled and the Ladbrokes congratulated the Leicester fan on Twitter.

If that wasn’t enough to give you bet envy then I won’t even tell you about the Leicester fan who won £2500 with a £1 bet on Leicester being top at Christmas and Jamie Vardy being the leading goalscorer!
