Kyle Walker Called Upon In Keeper Crisis!
An injury and a red card in their Champions League game meant Kyle Walker found himself in goal on Wednesday night!
It’s not often an outfield player has to go in goal, but when they do we love it! On Wednesday night, Man City played away at Atalanta. This was a big game for Pep’s side, with a win sending them through to the last 16 with two games to go.
City got off to a good start, Raheem Sterling taking the lead after just seven minutes. A fantastic bit of play finished off with a back heel from Jesus saw Sterling get his fifth champions league goal this season. The winger has also managed seven in the Premier League so far and is 8/1 to finish the season as the top scorer on Betfred!
The visitors looked very good in the first half, and should have gone in by more than one goal up. They had many good chances and also missed a penalty on the 40th minute from Jesus. Half time didn’t go brilliantly either, Ederson had to come off injured with Bravo replacing him.
Atalanta came out flying in the second half and scored on the 48th minute. A great ball in converted by the head of Pasalic. A poor pass from Gundogan then saw Atalanta on the counter and Bravo came flying out and got himself a red card. Kyle Walker was then introduced as replacement goal keeper and saved the resulting free-kick, not convincingly though!
The game finished 1-1 and City are still waiting to qualify for the last 16, which should happen! They will be looking a lot further ahead than the last 16 and more to the final. Pep was brought in to win this competition and it still hasn’t happened yet. They are the favourites to win it at 11/4 with Liverpool to win it again at a huge 6/1 on Betfred!
