Harry Kane scored from the halfway line in injury time to give Spurs a 3-2 win over Juventus!
All the clubs across Europe are currently in pre-season. Most of Europe’s elite will travel around the world playing in various competitions in which they’ll sometimes meet each other. Spurs and Juventus are both currently playing in the International Champions Cup.
Both sides fielded strong sides with Ronaldo, Pjanic, Son, Alli, Buffon and others starting. Kane, De Ligt, Rabiot and Ndombele were all on the bench but all played a part.
Juventus vs Spurs
The game itself was a very exciting one as it was end to end. Both sides had good chances to take the lead, which Spurs did through Erik Lamela. Buffon, who had recently rejoined Juventus, made a good save but Lamela came in to tap the ball into an empty net.
Higuain equalised after finishing off a brilliant one-touch passing move. The Argentine striker is reportedly looking for a move away for more first-team football. Ronaldo then pleased the 50,000+ fans by scoring himself in the 60th minute to give Juve the lead.
New signing Ndombele and Lucas Moura both came off the bench after this. They linked up immediately with the Frenchman finding Moura on the edge of the six-yard box to bring the game level again.
It appeared as the game would finish this way but for a bit of brilliance from Harry Kane in the 92nd minute. Spurs won the ball back from Juve near the halfway line. It fell to Kane who, without even taking a touch or looking up, hit the ball first time towards goal. It appeared to catch Szczęsny off guard and the ball lobbed him and fell into the empty net. It was an unbelievable goal, fit to win any game of football!
Kane 2019/20 season
Last season wasn’t Kanes best in terms of goalscoring. He scored 24 goals in 40 games which is still a very good record, but it’s his fewest goals since the 13/14 season! This season he will be hoping to stay fit for a lot more of the season and get back up to scoring 30+ goals a season.
Kane is the favourite on Paddy Power to finish the season as the top scorer. He is priced at 4/1, with Salah just behind him at 9/2. Kane has won the award twice before, but not since Salah joined Liverpool.
One award which Kane hasn’t won is the PFA Player Of The Year. He is priced at 14/1 on Paddy Power to win it this season, with Kevin De Bruyne and Mo Salah the favourites at 6/1.
Spurs are going to need Kane to be at his very best for them to win the Premier League. They are the third favourites at 17/1 to win the Premier League this year with Man City (4/7) and Liverpool (23/10) miles ahead.
