Guardiola and Klopp To Swap Trophies?

klopp

With both men making it no secret which trophies they want to win, Pep has now suggested whether the two should swap with each other!

On Monday night, the Football Writes Association held their annual awards dinner. At the awards, Klopp and Guardiola were both invited on stage to talk about the 2018/19 season. This was a fantastic year for both their clubs, with Liverpool winning the Champions League and Man City winning the domestic treble.

Klopp spoke about that goal that Kompany scored against Leicester. With City drawing and needing to win Klopp said that with 20 minutes to go he was starting to hope. He said he was disappointed with Leicester as they seemed to get tired. Klopp then joked about the fact that Kompany hadn’t scored all season and his first goal of that year happened to be a 30-yard screamer to help win the league.

Guardiola brought up his own version of belief in terms of Liverpool and that they would eventually drop points this season. He said that he kept seeing them score last-minute goals when he thought that would be the day they dropped points. Pep then spoke his quest for the Champions League with Man City and suggested that the two managers should swap trophies!

This would never be allowed of course and probably for the best for Man United fans. The only slight bragging rights they have left would be taken away from them in one go!

Champions League

Everyone involved with Man City from the owners to the fans are desperate to win the Champions League. Many thought last year would be their year. In the quarter-finals and supposedly having the easier route to the final. But a last-minute VAR decision meant that Spurs would knock them out on away goals. Liverpool, who were in the harder route, managed to go all the way including a fantastic second leg come back against Barcelona.

We are now in a new Champions League campaign and Man City have confirmed their place in the last 16. A win tonight for Liverpool would confirm their place as well as put them top of the group. City are again this seasons favourites on Betfred at 11/4, with Liverpool the second-favourites at 6/1. If Liverpool continue playing as they are and keep everyone fit they have every chance of making it seven. Man City need to get all their players back fit and they will mount a serious challenge.

Premier League

Liverpool are sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League. It has been a disappointing start to the season for Pep. Last season they lost four games, and now 12 games in they have already lost three. Liverpool are eight points clear at the top and nine clear of Man City. However, Liverpool had a seven-point lead last season and still managed to lose that after Christmas.

If anyone is going to go on a run and turn this around it would be Man City and Pep. That is why they are priced at 9/4 on Betfred to go and win their fifth Premier League title. With Liverpool having such a big lead so early on it is no wonder they are at 2/5 to win. Last season the title was decided by a point and you can guarantee this year will be another close one.
