French Woman Scores Worldy
The U-20 Women’s World Cup is currently taking place in Canada, the 7th edition of the tournament really hit the headlines this week when Claire Lavogez scored a Worldy for France against Costa Rica.
If this goal was scored by Neymar or Zlatan Ibrahimovic you’d probably already have seen it a 100 times already. However, as Women’s football still doesn’t get the recognition it deserves – you might not have witnessed the mighty strike.
Lavogez allowed the ball to drop across her body before striking the shot with real venom, leaving the Costa Rican keeper floundering. It’s also worth noting the build up play leading to the goal was a beautiful one touch move involving three of the French players.
In 2011 Claire Lavogez captained the French team to the UEFA European Women’s Under-17 Championship final. A match which they lost 1-0 due to a last minute goal from Spain. I’m sure this volley will help ease the pain Lavogez felt after losing that match – Allez les blue!
