The World Cup in Italia ’90 was a tremendous effort by the English. Amongst all the controversy the nation was going through and the scenes of football hooligans running amok in Italy, the England squad traveled to Sardinia for their game against Ireland. England were eventually knocked out by West Germany in the Semi-Final’s and of course it had to be on penalties. Due to the excitement of England’s performances, many people forget that England’s Golden Boy, Gary Lineker genuinely shat himself during that opening match!
The England no.10 shimmied and swiped to clean himself up to continue the match against Ireland. Fortunately for Gary, he scored in the opening ten minutes and the fans were more focused on England winning rather than his bowl moments.
