Dead Player Scores Goal

It’s football history in the making: a player who died and was able to score a goal from beyond the grave.

The world is mourning the death of a Chilean footballer after his former teammates arranged for him to score a goal from his coffin as a final tribute to his spectacular skill.

Jaime Escandar died in the closing weeks of 2021, but his teammates at Chilean club Aparicion de Paine wished to commemorate the life of the goalscorer.

The team positioned his coffin in the six-yard box, and one of their players booted the ball into it so that it would rebound into the goal. The crowd yelled as the ball hit the net.

Following the goal, several people released fireworks while friends embraced the coffin covered in the team’s colors.

Despite the fact that little was known about him, the video shot on Jan. 3 in Huelquen, near Santiago, rapidly went viral across Latin America, with sites from all over the region noting the fans’ passion and devotion.

Felipe Orellana, who recorded the goal, remarked. “we didn’t anticipate (the video) would go viral all over the world.”

Escandar’s club said in a Facebook post, that the centre forward “celebrated from heaven with all his soul.”
