Celtic Scott Scores Then Is Sent Off!

Scott Brown scores an important last-minute winner and gets shown a red card for his celebrations!

Celtic increased their lead at the top of the SPL on Sunday with a last-minute Scott brown winner against Kilmarnock. Second-placed Rangers and third-placed Aberdeen both drew at the weekend. This gave Celtic the chance to open up and eight-point lead at the top of the SPL.

However, the late win didn’t come without its problems. Captain Scott Brown was already on a yellow card and after scoring jumped over the advertisement board and celebrated with fans. The referee gave Brown his second yellow of the game and was subsequently sent off. The centre mid may feel hard done to by the referee. He didn’t actually go into the fans, but the fans ran on to him.

Manager Brendan Rodgers “I feel for any player who gets sent off for celebrating”. The ex Liverpool manager thought that it was good to see that type of passion in a game. He said even though it’s in the rules it was a shame he got sent off. Celtic do have a replacement for Brown, who will miss one game, in Callum McGregor.

The Celtic skippers goal was his second of the season and kept The Hoops’ perfect start to the season going. The current SPL champions have won all eight games in the league in 2019 and are yet to concede a goal.

The return to winning ways was a relief for the Glasgow club. The lost 2-0 at home to Valencia. The odds now look stacked against them to win the competition. Bet365 have Celtic at 250/1 to turn win their second European trophy.

There is still other trophies to play for though for Celtic. They have already won the Scottish League Cup and are still in the Scottish Cup and are sitting comfortably at the top of the SPL. The Hoops will be looking to do the treble treble, after having won all three domestic trophies in the last 2 seasons. Celtic to win the league is 1/16 on Bet365 and to win the Scottish FA Cup is 1/1.
