Balotelli Scores Then Celebrates On Instagram

Balotelli scored a stunning overhead kick and follows it up with an Instagram story celebration!

On Sunday night the Italian strikers Marseille side took on Saint-Etienne in must win game as both teams look to get European football next year. The home side managed to win the game 2-0. This has now put them one point ahead of Saint-Etienne into fourth place which would see them play in the Europa League next season.

However, it wasn’t the result that got most of the headlines. The ex-Man City striker scored a fantastic overhead kick to give his side an early lead. It was his fourth goal in six games for his new club. After he scored he ran over to a camera man behind the visitors goal who had his phone. Balotelli could be seen getting his team mates over as he went live on his Instagram. The celebration got headlines around the world as it was Balotelli doing something else that you don’t expect from footballers.

However, Super Mario isn’t the first footballer to use their phone as part of their celebration. Francesco Totti set the trend back in 2015. Roma were playing Lazio in the Rome Derby. Totti scored to bring his side level and got his phone from his goalkeeper and celebrated by getting a selfie with the ecstatic Roma fans.

Other Balotelli celebrations

Balotelli isn’t shy when it comes to famous celebrations. Against Man United when he played for Man City he scored at the Stretford End and then pulled his top up to reveal another top below it. On it, it said ‘Why always me?’. Balotelli has said the reason for such celebration was because he wanted the press to leave him alone. Another one of his memorable celebrations came against Germany. In euro 2012 he scored against Germany and took his top off. He stood in the box and flexed his muscles showing no emotion even when teammates jumped on him.

Marseille play again this weekend against Nice in another big game for European football. Nice are currently four points behind Marseille so Balotellis side need to win to consolidate that fourth place spot. Marseille are at 4/7 to win on Bet365. A win would put them closer to European football but if you fancy them to break into Champions League places them Bet365 have them priced at 5/1 to finish in the top three.
