This video is back from 2008 and there was a stray balloon bobbling around the United dugout. Assistant manager Mike Phelan proceeded to pick it up and pop it prompting his manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, to jump out of his seat and launch an angry tirade in his direction.
While we’re well aware of some of Ferguson’s high-profile disagreements with his former players, we haven’t heard of any falling outs with his staff.
However, the now Hull City boss has revealed he Ferguson almost sacked him for what he did.
“That was an incident that made me famous,” claims Phelan.
“Regardless of what I did on the pitch.
A humble balloon had somehow managed to strike fear into one of the scariest managers in the league.
