Aston Villa vs Chelsea

SUN 23 MAY 2021 – KO 16:00

Aston Villa vs

Chelsea head to Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon in third place, but potentially needing a win not to finish in fifth!

The Villans picked up a good win in their last game away to Spurs. They won 2-1, with Ollie Watkins getting another goal and Jack Grealish starting his first game in three months!

Villa are eleventh in the table and due to dropping points recently, they can’t get into the top ten. However, after finishing just one point above the bottom three last season, they can’t complain with this finish!

Dean Smith’s side will be welcoming fans into the ground for the first time this season. This may give them the help they need against an inform Chelsea side. If Grealish starts again it’ll give them a huge boost, he is key to them winning and has shown this with their form since he’s been out injured.

The Blues picked up a massive win in the last game against fellow top four fighters Leicester. They won 2-1, which will feel like revenge for the loss in the FA Cup final against them at the weekend.

Chelsea are in third place at the minute, but only a point ahead of Liverpool and Leicester. This is a tough game for them, especially with the Champions League final next weekend. A win guarantee’s top four but anything else and it’s out of their control.

Under Tuchel, Chelsea have changed their ways. They keep possession of the ball a lot more and are built on a strong defence. They will need to take their chances early on because they don’t want to be chasing the game with little time left. Chelsea should have enough, but a Villa side with Grealish is a tough one to beat.

Team News

Villa are without Trezeguet, Reven, Cash and Sanson.

Kante, Havert and Christensen are all doubtful for this game.

Match Prediction

This is going to be a close game, but we are backing Chelsea to get the win and finish third in the Premier League this season.
