Aston Villa vs Newcastle
SAT 23rd JAN 2021 – KO 20:00pm
BETTING & MATCH PREVIEW
On Saturday night, Aston Villa host Newcastle at Villa Park, with Dean Smiths side not having played at home since last year due to squad illness!
After a tough couple of weeks, Aston Villa are finally back playing football. They went to The Etihad in midweek and were beaten 2-0 in controversial circumstances. The loss saw Villa stay 11th in the table, but they do have two/three games in hand on most of the table.
Villa narrowly escaped relegation last season, staying up on the final day. This season is a lot better and it’s down to their good recruitment in the summer. A top-half finish would be a fantastic season for them.
Villa will fancy themselves against the side four places below them in the table. They played with real attacking intent on Wednesday and were unlucky not to score. If they can play like this Saturday then they should at least come away with a point, if not three!
The Magpies go to Villa Park in 15th place and in a really bad run of form. They haven’t won in seven games and lost their last one 3-0 away at Arsenal.
Newcastle fans aren’t happy and the minute and most of their anger is directed towards Steve Bruce. They don’t want him in charge and are worried he could take them into a relegation fight.
The away side need to stop this run of form and given that Villa are only a few places ahead of them, they may see this game as a potential chance to get a win. They have good attacking players in Wilson, Fraser and Almiron.
Villa look set to be without winger Trezeguet and striker Wesley through injury.
Newcastle also has two players missing in Fernandez and Saint-Maximin.
