BETTING & MATCH PREVIEW
On Sunday night, Monaco and Lyon clash in a crucial game in the race for the French top-flight title, with both teams still believing that they can end the season as Ligue One champions.
The team from the principality are enjoying an outstanding campaign in Ligue One this season. Niko Kovac’s team are third-place in the table, just two points behind league leaders Lille.
Monaco are currently on a superb run of form in Ligue One, as they are unbeaten in six league matches, having won their last five games in the French top-flight.
They have built their recent good form on sound defensive foundations, as the home side has kept six straight clean sheets in Ligue One. At the other end of the pitch, Kovac’s team has also scored at least two goals in four of their last five league outings.
The visitors currently occupy fourth-place and are just six points off the top of the table. OL look like outsiders for the title, but anything could happen if they win this clash. This game is also crucial to Lyon’s hopes of landing a Champions League spot for next season. Monaco are in the last Champions League spot in Ligue One, but a win would move OL to within a point of the home team.
Lyon may have been in an even stronger position to challenge for the big prize this season if it were not for a recent run of inconsistent form, as the visitors have won just two of their last six matches in Ligue One. Last time out, they suffered a 3-2 home defeat against league leaders Lille.
Monaco are set to be without veteran midfielder Cesc Fabregas through injury, while Chrislain Matsima, Krepin Diatta and Enzo Millot look set to miss out through illness.
Lyon have no reported injury problems for this pivotal clash.
