Villarreal v Real Madrid
BETTING & MATCH PREVIEW
On Saturday night, Villarreal and Real Madrid go head-to-head at the Estadio de la Ceramica in their last game of the Spanish top-flight season.
Villarreal have once enjoyed a solid season in La Liga. The Yellow Submarine are fifth-place in the table and have secured a Europa League place for next season.
The home sides hopes of landing a European spot were slightly in doubt until a run of four wins in their last five La Liga outings ensured a top-six finish for Javi Calleja’s side.
Last time out in La Liga, the home side defeated Deportivo La Coruna 4-2. The result means that six of their last seven outings have produced over 2.5 goals.
Villarreal have won four of their last five home games in La Liga. There have also been over 2.5 goals scored in four of their last five home games in the Spanish top-flight.
Real Madrid look set to finish the Spanish season in third position in the table. Los Blancos currently trail second-place city rivals Atletico Madrid by three points heading into this game. Atletico would only need a point from their final game to clinch second spot.
Zinedine Zidane’s team have been going through an inconsistent run of form of late in La Liga. However, the former champions hammered Celta Vigo 6-0 in their last league outing in the Spanish top-flight. The result means that Los Blancos have scored at least two goals in their last four league matches.
The visitors have failed to win in their last two away games in the league, although those games were at Barcelona and Sevilla.
Neither side has too many personnel problems heading into this clash. The home side will be without veteran star Bruno Soriano due to injury, while the visitors could be without full-back Dani Carvajal also due to injury. Zinedine Zidane may name a weakened team with the Champions League’s final on May 26th.
