Valencia v Atletico Madrid

On Saturday afternoon, Valencia host Atletico Madrid at the Mestalla in La Liga, as both teams look to continue their unbeaten starts to their league campaigns.

Valencia have made a good start to their La Liga campaign so far by beating Las Palmas on the opening day before picking up a very creditable 2-2 draw at Real Madrid last time out.

Los Ches’ form has not been bad of late, with just one defeat in their last five La Liga matches, having recorded three wins in the process. Boss Marcelino has also made a bright start to life at the club.

Valencia have enjoyed mixed fortunes at the Mestalla in La Liga of late. However, they have suffered just two defeats in their last 11 home outings in the Spanish top-flight.

Atletico have also picked up four points from their last two games and last time out won 5-1 at Las Palmas. The result was needed after Diego Simeone’s side drew 2-2 at newly promoted Girona on the opening day of the campaign.

Los Rojiblancos finished last season in relatively strong form. In fact, Simeone’s side have now lost just one of their last 16 games in the Spanish top-flight. The visitor’s away form is even more impressive, as the men from the Spanish capital are unbeaten in the last 13 games on their travels in La Liga.

Atleti’s recent away games in La Liga have been high scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in three of their last four games.

Team News

The home side have a couple of injury problems heading into this clash, as defenders Ezequiel Garay, Gabriel and Ruben Vezo could all miss out through injury. Atletico Madrid have no reported injuries, but star striker Antoine Griezmann will miss out through suspension.

Match Prediction

Valencia have looked a far better team under Marcelino so far. However, in many ways, Atletico are more suited to playing away from home. This game could be tight, but Simeone’s men may just edge it.
