Sevilla v Villarreal
BETTING & MATCH PREVIEW
On Saturday lunchtime, Sevilla host Villarreal in La Liga, as the two teams fight it out for a Europa League spot for next season.
A torrid run of form in recent months has seen Sevilla go from potential top-four candidates to seventh place in La Liga, a point behind the visitors.
The Andalucian’s have failed to win in their last four La Liga outings, suffering three defeats in the process, including last time out when they were hammered 4-0 at Celta Vigo.
One of the main factors in their recent slump has been poor defending, as the home side has conceded at least two goals in their last four outings in the Spanish top-flight.
Even Sevilla’s usual strong home record has suffered in recent months, as Vincenzo Montella’s team have won just two of their last eight home games in La Liga.
Villarreal have been highly inconsistent of late in La Liga. In fact, the Yellow Submarine have lost their last two outings against Malaga and last time out at home to Athletic Bilbao.
The visitor’s recent outings in the Spanish top-flight have been low scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in six of their last eight games in La Liga.
In keeping with their general form of late, Javi Calleja’s side has been inconsistent on their travels in La Liga. However, one win in their last five league games on the road is not a great record. Another away defeat in this clash would see the visitors slip out of the European spots.
The home side are expected to be without centre-back Simon Kjaer and full-back Sebastien Corchia due to injuries, while the visitors are without experienced midfielder Bruno Soriano also due to injury.
