Sampdoria v Lazio
BETTING & MATCH PREVIEW
In an intriguing Serie A clash, Sampdoria and Lazio meet at the Stadio Luigi Ferrari on Sunday night, as both teams look to make up ground on the top-four.
Sampdoria have been one of the surprise packages so far in the Italian top-flight. Samp currently finds themselves sixth in the table and a win would move them level on points with the visitors.
However, Marco Giampaolo’s team suffered a 3-0 defeat at Bologna last time out in Serie A to end a three-game winning run for the Genoa outfit.
Sampdoria have proven good entertainment value in recent Serie A games, as seven of their last eight games have produced over 2.5 goals.
The fact that the home side have scored two or more goals in seven of those eight games has been a massive contributing factor to the high scoring games.
Lazio heads into the game on the back of disappointing results against Roma and Fiorentina. A 2-1 loss in the Rome derby against Roma was followed by a 1-1 home draw against Fiorentina.
The Biancocelesti will be desperate to get back to winning ways, as they are just two points behind neighbours Roma in the race for the Champions League spots.
The visitor’s recent away record in Serie A is very good, as they have won six of their last seven games on their travels. A six-game winning run on the road ended last time with that derby defeat.
The main reason for Lazio’s good run of form on their travels is their effectiveness in front of goal, as they have scored at least two goals in six of their last seven away games in Serie A.
Sampdoria have no reported injuries, so boss Giampaolo should have a fully fit squad available. However, the visitors are set to be without winger Nani and midfielders Felipe Anderson and Davide Di Gennaro due to injury.
