Portugal v Switzerland

BETTING & MATCH PREVIEW

On Wednesday night, Portugal host Switzerland at the Estadio do Dragao in the first of the Nations League semi-finals.

Portugal head into this clash on the back of four straight draws in all competitions, including drawing their last two matches in the Nations League against Italy and Poland.

The latest results mean that the reigning European champions are unbeaten in their first four games in the newly-formed competition, having also won their first two games in the Nations League.

The home side’s matches in the Nations League have been low-scoring, with three of their four games so far producing under 2.5 goals. Both their home games in the Nations League have produced under 2.5 goals.

Switzerland made it through to the last four of the competition by topping their group ahead of Belgium and Iceland. The visitors actually booked their semi-final spot by hammering the Red Devils 5-2 in their last group game.

Vladimir Petkovic’s side has a good record in this competition, having won three of their four games in the Nations League. Their only slip up was a 2-1 defeat in Belgium back in October.

Their games in the competition have certainly been entertaining fare, as all four matches have produced over 2.5 goals. The fact that the Swiss have scored at least two goals in three of their last four Nations League games is a big factor in those high-scoring games.

TEAM NEWS

Portugal welcome back talisman Cristiano Ronaldo into the fold after he missed all of their group games in the Nations League. Starlet Joao Felix is expected to make his international debut for the Selecao after an excellent campaign with Benfica. The home side are without Danilo Pereira through suspension.

Switzerland are without Schalke star Breel Embolo after the youngster withdrew from the squad through injury. Liverpool playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri is also a fitness doubt for the visitors.

Match Prediction

Portugal will be favourites to win this clash, but Switzerland are no pushovers. However, I think that the home side will record a narrow victory.
