Jose Mourinho found himself yellow-carded on the weekend after he admitted being rude but only to “an idiot”!
On Wednesday, Spurs took on Southampton away at St Mary's in what turned out to be a tougher fixture than expected. Mourinho's side were the favourites going into this one, however, one win in their last three said it wouldn't be easy.
Southampton broke the deadlock through in-form striker Danny Ings. The striker is now on 13 goals for the season, only Jamie Vardy (17) has more. Ings is priced at 20/1 on Betway to be the top scorer come to the end of the season.
Spurs get pushing for an equaliser and they nearly had it through Harry Kane. England's captain had a goal ruled out through VAR and to make it worse he then went off with a hamstring injury. It appeared it was going to be one of those days for Spurs.
Whether he did it intentionally to take the attention off of the loss or not, Mourinho certainly took the headlines though. He was shown a yellow card after going over to the Southampton bench and reading their tactics. This wound up Southampton who then alerted the fourth official. Mourinho said after the match he was rude but rude to an idiot…
Spurs aims for the season
This was more dropped points for Mourinho's side whose current form is up and down. They are still in the Champions League and have drawn RB Leipzig. They should progress through this round but will struggle to reach the final again like last season.
However, last season most would have said the same and they are priced at 18/1 on Betway. With Mourinho behind them who knows how far they can go. If they beat Leipzig in the Round Of 16 then their price will drop from 18/1.
On top of this though they need to make sure they get into the Champions League next season. They are six points off the top four but their form has improved since the arrival of Jose. It looks like it'll be a three-horse race between them, Chelsea and Man United. Spurs have the best squad out of the three but are priced at 7/2 to get in the top four. Six points isn't a huge game to fill especially considering there is still half the season to go.
