Borussia Monchengladbach v Schalke
BETTING & MATCH PREVIEW
On Saturday evening, Borussia Monchengladbach host Schalke in the Bundesliga, as the visitors attempt to pick up their first league points of the campaign.
Monchengladbach have picked up four points from their opening two league games after a win over Bayer Leverkusen before a draw at Augsburg in their last league outing.
The home side enjoyed a mixed campaign last season in the Bundesliga and their recent results suggest this season could be a similar story. A recent record of three wins, two draws and one defeat suggests they are hard to beat though.
Gladbach have a very strong recent record on home soil in the Bundesliga, as the home side are six games unbeaten, having won their last four matches. They have also scored at least two goals in all those six unbeaten home games in the German top-flight.
Following their surprise second-place finish in the Bundesliga last season, Schalke have made a disastrous start to the new campaign, losing both their league games so far. Last time out Domenico Tedesco’s side suffered a 2-0 home reverse against Hertha Berlin.
Prior to the start of the campaign, Schalke were five games unbeaten in the German top-flight, having won three and drawn two matches.
The visitor’s recent record on the road in the Bundesliga is mixed. However, they have now won just once in their last four games on their travels in the league. Their last four away games in the German top-flight have at least been entertaining, all producing over 2.5 goals.
Monchengladbach have a host of potential absentees for this clash. Raffael, Julio Villalba, Keanan Bennetts, Michael Lang, Mamadou Doucoure and Josip Drmic could all miss out due to injury.
The visitors are without suspended winger Yevhen Konoplyanka, while Bastian Oczipka and Benjamin Stambouli look set to miss out through injury.
