Monchengladbach v Dortmund
BETTING & MATCH PREVIEW
On Saturday afternoon, Borussia Monchengladbach host Borussia Dortmund at the Stadion im BORUSSIA-PARK, in a game that could prove pivotal in the title race and the fight for the Champions League spots.
Monchengladbach heads into the clash in fourth-place, but are level on points with fifth-place Bayer Leverkusen and one point ahead of sixth-place Eintracht Frankfurt. The home side knows they have to win to make sure of a top-four spot.
Monchengladbach’s recent form in the Bundesliga has been highly inconsistent. However, a 4-0 win at Nurnberg last time out in the German top-flight put the home side in control of the race for fourth spot.
The Foals have a woeful recent home record on home soil in the Bundesliga, having failed to win any of their last seven league games on home soil.
The scenario is simple for Dortmund, as they have to win and hope that Bayern Munich suffers a rare defeat at the Allianz Arena against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Just like their hosts, BVB’s recent Bundesliga form has been inconsistent of late. However, Lucien Favre’s team kept their slim title hopes alive last time out by recording a 3-2 home win over Fortuna Dusseldorf. The win over Dusseldorf saw Dortmund score more than two goals for a fifth straight league match.
Dortmund’s recent away form has been inconsistent of late, as they have won just two of their last two league games on their travels.
Monchengladbach have a number of likely absentees heading into this big clash. Florian Neuhaus is suspended, while Andreas Poulsen, Florian Mayer and Lars Stindl could all miss out due to injury.
For Dortmund, Marius Wolf will be miss out through suspension, while Abdou Diallo, Dan-Axel Zagadou and Achraf Hakimi look set to miss out due to injuries.
