Manchester United v Liverpool
BETTING & MATCH PREVIEW
On Saturday lunchtime, the game of the Premier League weekend takes place, as Manchester United welcome Liverpool to Old Trafford.
It is third in the table versus second in the table, with United just two points ahead of their hosts in the race to secure Champions League spots this season.
The Red Devils have now won their last two Premier League games after a slightly patchy run of form in the last few weeks. Last time out Jose Mourinho’s side recorded a dramatic 3-2 win at Crystal Palace, as Nemanja Matic scored a stoppage-time winner.
The home side have a good recent home record winning their last three home games in the league. They have also lost just one of their last 31 league games at Old Trafford. In fact, the only team to beat United in the Premier League on home soil in over two years is arch-rivals Manchester City, who have won on their last two league visits.
Liverpool heads into this game on the back of a strong recent run of form in the Premier League. Jurgen Klopp’s side have won four of their last five games in the English top-flight, while also scoring at least twice in their last five league outings.
The Merseysiders also have a strong recent away record in the Premier League, as they have won seven of their last nine away games, suffering just one defeat in the process. Klopp’s side have scored two or more goals in eight of their last nine league games on their travels.
Manchester United look set to be without midfielder Marouane Fellaini and striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic due to injury, while Daley Blind, Phil Jones, Marco Rojo, Ander Herrera and Anthony Martial are also fitness doubts.
For Liverpool, full-back Nathaniel Clyne is expected to miss out through injury once again, while Georginio Wijnaldum and Danny Ings are also doubts.
