Manchester United v Leicester

In one of the most intriguing match-ups of gameweek five in the Premier League, Manchester United host unbeaten Leicester at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.

The hosts have experienced a mixed start to their Premier League campaign so far. The Red Devils have followed up a 4-0 opening weekend win over Chelsea by failing to win in their last three league outings.

Last time out, United drew 1-1 at Southampton, despite dominating the first half on the south coast. The draw means that United’s recent record in the Premier League does not make pretty reading, as they have won just once in nine league games.

Even United’s usually solid home form at Old Trafford has been poor of late in the league, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have won just once in their last five home league matches.

Poor defensive displays on home soil have not helped their chances winning on home soil either, as the men from Manchester have kept one clean sheet in their last eight league matches at Old Trafford.

Leicester have started their campaign in promising fashion, by winning two and drawing two of their top-flight games this season. The Foxes have now won their last two league matches against Sheffield United and last time out Bournemouth.

Brendan Rodgers side has lost just one of their last eight matches in the Premier League, which was in Manchester at United’s rivals Manchester City in May.

The visitors have a rather mixed recent away record in the Premier League. However, a record of three wins in ten league games on their travels is not a great one.

Manchester United are definitely without Luke Shaw and Eric Bailly due to injury, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Diogo Dalot, Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard and Paul Pogba are also fitness doubts.

Leicester are likely to still be without injury-prone midfielder Matty James. Centre-Back Wes Morgan is also a fitness doubt.

Match Prediction

United’s form at the start of the season has been mixed and Leicester have shown that they are capable of getting a result at a top-six team by drawing at Chelsea. I can see this one finishing in a draw.
