Manchester City v Chelsea
BETTING & MATCH PREVIEW
On Sunday, reigning Premier League champions Manchester City host Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium, as the home side look to maintain their position at the top of the table.
Manchester City are currently top of the table courtesy of goal difference. However, by the time this game has kicked off Liverpool could have leapfrogged them, as the Reds face Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.
City are in high spirits after their midweek 2-0 win at Everton, which means they have won six of their last seven top-flight games. The Citizens have also scored at least two goals in all six league wins.
The Etihad Stadium has become a graveyard for opposition teams too, as Pep Guardiola’s side have recorded wins in 13 of their last 14 on home soil in the Premier League. They have also been highly potent in front of goal in the league, scoring at least two goals in their last 14 outings on home soil.
Chelsea heads to Manchester hoping to improve their chances of a top-four finish. However, the Blues could find themselves outside the top-four at kick-off with rivals Manchester United and Arsenal both playing on Saturday.
A record of two wins and two defeats in their last four Premier League games has not exactly helped their chances of a top-four finish. Although last time out in the top-flight the Blues hammered bottom club Huddersfield 5-0 at Stamford Bridge.
The visitors have been highly inconsistent of late on their travels in the top-flight, winning just three of their last seven games on their travels and suffering three defeats in the process.
Manchester City still have fitness doubts over full-back Benjamin Mendy and also centre-back Vincent Kompany. Raheem Sterling should return to the starting line-up maybe at the expense of Leroy Sane.
Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has a fully fit squad to choose from and may field the same starting line-up that defeated Huddersfield last time out.
