Hoffenheim v Bayern Munich

On Saturday evening, Hoffenheim host Bayern Munich at the WIRSOL Rhein Neckar Arena, in what promises to be one of the biggest Bundesliga clashes of the weekend.

Hoffenheim were one of the surprises packages of the Bundesliga last season. Julian Nagelsmann’s team have also made a decent start to this season picking up four points from their first two league games.

Last time out the home side drew 2-2 at Bayer Leverkusen having started their league campaign with a 1-0 victory over Werder Bremen. Nagelsmann’s team based last season’s top-four finish on a good home record, as the home side are now 18 games unbeaten on home soil in the German top-flight.

Hoffenheim’s recent home games in the Bundesliga have been low scoring, though, with under 2.5 goals scored in five of their last six league games on home soil.

Bayern Munich have started this seasons Bundesliga campaign as they finished last season, by winning. The German champions have kicked off their campaign with wins over Bayer Leverkusen and last time out Werder Bremen.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team are unbeaten in nine games in the Bundesliga since Hoffenheim beat the Bavarians 1-0 back in April. However, that lost is the Bavarian’s only defeat in their last 25 outings in the German top-flight.

The visitors are unbeaten in four away games in the Bundesliga since the defeat at Hoffenheim. Die Bayern have also won their last three league games on their travels, scoring two or more goals in all three victories.

Team News

Hoffenheim have a few personnel problems heading into this clash, as Stefan Posch, Adam Szalai and Serge Gnabry look set to miss out through injury. For Bayern, Spanish full-back Juan Bernat will miss out through injury, while centre-back Jerome Boateng is close to a return to fitness after injury, so could feature for the Bavarians.

Match Prediction

Hoffenheim will represent an obstacle for the German champions to extend their unbeaten run in the Bundesliga. However, the visitors have the quality to pick up a win in this clash, but it may not be a comfortable one for Ancelotti’s men.
