Fiorentina v Juventus

On Saturday afternoon, Fiorentina host Juventus at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, as the home side aim to end a long winless run in Serie A.

Fiorentina are now 16 league games without a victory after starting the new Serie A campaign with defeats against Napoli and Genoa. The Viola have lost seven of their last eight matches in Serie A. The home side has failed to score in five of their last seven games in the Italian top-flight.

The fact that the Viola have suffered four straight defeats against the Bianconeri does not bode well for a change of fortunes in this clash.

The team from Florence have now failed to win in 12 home matches in Serie A, losing three of their last four league matches. One of the Viola’s main problems on home soil has been scoring goals, as they have failed to score in five of their last six league outings at the Artemio Franchi.

Juventus have made their typical start to the season by beating Parma and last time out perennial title rivals Napoli. The opening day win over Parma actually ended a five-game winless run in the league for the team from Turin.

The reigning champions have won just once in their last five away games in the Italian top-flight, which was that aforementioned victory over Parma. Their recent away games have been low-scoring in Serie A, as six of their last seven games have produced under 2.5 goals, including their last four away matches.

Fiorentina’s only likely absentee is Brazilian forward Pedro, who is struggling with an injury.

Juventus have a number of likely absentees due to injury, including Aaron Ramsey, Mattia De Sciglio, Marko Pjaca, Mattia Perin and Giorgio Chiellini.

Match Prediction

Fiorentina have taken their woeful form from last season into the current campaign. I can see the visitors recording a victory in a low-scoring affair.
