Chelsea v Manchester City


On Saturday evening, Chelsea host Manchester City at Stamford Bridge in the game of the Premier League weekend. 

Chelsea have slipped to fourth place in the Premier League table of late. They are only ahead of fifth place Arsenal by virtue of superior goal difference. 

Last time out, the Blues suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat at Wolves. The loss means that Maurizio Sarri’s team have won just one of their last four league games. 

Chelsea’s recent top-flight games have been high scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in six of their last eight Premier League matches. 

The Blues are unbeaten in 11 league games at Stamford Bridge, although three of their last five home games have finished all square. Sarri’s team have been relatively prolific on home soil of late in the Premier League, scoring at least two goals in six of their last eight matches. 

Manchester City have won 13 of their 15 Premier League games this season. However, the Citizens are just two points clear of second place Liverpool. 

Pep Guardiola’s team has won their last seven league games, scoring at least two goals in six of the seven wins, including last time out in a 2-1 win at Watford. 

City have a strong recent away record in the top-flight, as they are unbeaten in 14 games on their travels, winning 11 times in the process. A key factor in the Citizens recent good away record is their defensive displays, as the visitors have kept clean sheets in six of their last eight league games on their travels.

Team News

Chelsea have near fully fit squad, with wing-back Victor Moses the Blues only doubt. Benjamin Mendy is expected to miss out due to injury, while Kevin De Bruyne, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Sergio Aguero are also injury doubts.

Match Prediction

Chelsea should be a big obstacle to City’s seemingly relentless run to the title. However, I believe the Citizens will have too much for the Blues and record a victory.
