Celta Vigo v Real Madrid
BETTING & MATCH PREVIEW
On Saturday afternoon, big-spending Spanish giants Real Madrid travel to Celta Vigo, as both teams look to make a winning start to the new campaign in La Liga.
Celta Vigo spent much of last season fighting relegation and eventually finished just one place and four points above the relegation zone. The home side finished the campaign in an inconsistent manner, although they did lose just once in their final six league matches.
One major positive for Celta towards the end of last season was their home form in La Liga. In fact, their home form played a big part in their survival in the top-flight.
The home side ended the season with a five-game unbeaten run on home soil, including four wins. Celta were also prolific in those five unbeaten home games, scoring at least two goals in each match.
Celta have brought in Santi Mina and Denis Suarez among others in a bid to avoid the same fate as last season. However, they have also lost Maxi Gomez to Valencia.
Real Madrid endured a nightmare campaign in La Liga last season, eventually finishing third place in the table. Los Blancos finished the season with one win in their last five games while losing three of their final four league matches.
Poor away form was part of the visitor’s bad end of season run, as Zinedine Zidane’s team failed to win in their last five league matches on their travels.
The Spanish giants spent big to rectify their problems, bringing in the likes of winger Eden Hazard, full-back Ferland Mendy, forward Luka Jovic, centre-back Eder Militao and starlet Rodrygo.
Celta look set to be without Santi Mina, Hugo Mallo and David Junca due to injury. The visitors could be without Ferland Mendy, Marco Asensio and Brahim Diaz because of injuries.
