Bayern Munich v Dortmund
BETTING & MATCH PREVIEW
On Saturday evening, German’s big two Bayern Munich and Dortmund go head-to-head at the Allianz Arena in a potentially pivotal clash in the Bundesliga title race.
Bayern Munich head into this clash after the sacking of Croatian head coach Niko Kovac. The decision to fire Kovac came after the Bavarians suffered a humiliating 5-1 defeat against Kovac’s former club Eintracht Frankfurt last Saturday.
The defeat actually ended a three-game winning run for Die Bayern in the German top-flight, leaving the reigning champions four points shy of leaders Monchengladbach and also a point behind Saturday evenings opponents Dortmund.
Hans-Dieter Flick will be in caretaker charge of this clash before the Bavarians appoint a new head coach.
Bayern are renowned for their home form and have won 14 of their 16 home matches in the Bundesliga. However, it remains to be seen the effect that Kovac’s exit will have on the players.
Dortmund will head to Munich full of confidence after a 3-0 win over Wolfsburg last time out in the Bundesliga. The victory means they are seven games unbeaten in the German top-flight. BVB have also kept three straight clean sheets in the league.
Dortmund have failed to win in their last four away games in the Bundesliga, but have drawn their last three matches in the German top-flight. Lucien Favre’s team has been poor defensively of late on their travel’s conceding at least two goals in three of their last four away games in the Bundesliga.
BVB have lost 6-0 and 5-0 on their last two visits to the Allianz Stadium, score lines which they will be confident of avoiding this time around.
Bayern Munich have some defensive problems with Niklas Sule and Lucas Hernandez looking set to miss out due to injury, while Jerome Boateng will miss out due to suspension. Dortmund are expected to be without full-back Marcel Schmelzer.
