Bayern Munich v Bayer Leverkusen

On Saturday evening, Bayern Munich host Bayer Leverkusen at the Allianz Arena, as the Bavarians look to return to the top of the Bundesliga table.

Bayern look to have returned to form under interim boss Hans-Dieter Flick, who has overseen four straight wins in all competitions. Not only have the reigning German champions won those four games, they have scored at least two goals in each win.

Last time out, the home side recorded a 6-0 mauling of Red Star Belgrade in the Serbian capital in the Champions League. The victory had followed 4-0 league wins over Dortmund and Fortuna Dusseldorf.

The recent improvement of form for Die Bayern means that they are now just a point behind leaders Monchengladbach in the race for top spot.

As you would expect, Bayern have a strong recent record on home soil in the Bundesliga, winning 15 of their last 19 league outings at the Allianz Arena.

Bayer Leverkusen have endured a relatively inconsistent Bundesliga campaign so far, and are currently ninth-place in a congested table. Peter Bosz’s team have won just once in their last six matches in the German top-flight. They have however, taken four points from their last two league games with a win over Wolfsburg and a home draw against Freiburg.

The visitors form on their travels in the German top-flight could not have been more inconsistent of late, as they have won three and lost two of their last five away games.

Bayern could be set to be without Michael Cuisance, Fiete Arp, Lucas Hernandez and Nicklas Sule due to various injury problems.

Bayer are expected to be without Julian Baumgartlinger, Daley Sinkgraven, Mitchell Weiser, Kai Havertz and Joel Pohjanpalo through injury.

Match Prediction

It is hard to see past a high-scoring win for Bayern in this clash, as the Bavarians seem in top form at the minute, and Bayer have been inconsistent of late.
