Atletico Madrid v Eibar
BETTING & MATCH PREVIEW
On Sunday evening, Atletico Madrid host Eibar at the Wanda Metropolitano, as the home side look to ensure they finish above rivals Real Madrid in La Liga.
Heading into the final weekend of the Spanish top-flight season, Atletico are second-place in La Liga, three points clear of city-rivals Real Madrid. That means that Diego Simeone’s team only needs a draw from this game to finish above their rivals.
Atletico’s recent form has been highly inconsistent in La Liga, as the men from the capital have won just two of their last five matches in the Spanish top-flight. Last time out, Simeone’s side won a Madrid derby, recording a 1-0 victory at Getafe.
Atleti’s usual strong home record has weakened of late slightly in La Liga, as the home side has failed to win in their last two home games. A 2-0 defeat by Espanyol in their last home game ended a run of eight league games without conceding on home soil for Atletico.
Eibar have enjoyed another solid season in the Spanish top-flight. For much of the season, the minnows threatened to finish in a European place. However, the visitors will no doubt be content with their current position of eighth.
The visitors head into this game unbeaten in three La Liga games, having recorded victories over Girona and Las Palmas after a goalless draw with Valencia.
Jose Mendilibar’s side are also unbeaten in three away games in the Spanish top-flight, recording two wins and a draw.
Atletico Madrid’s only injury concern is winger Vitolo. Angel Correa could play on the right in Vitolo’s absence. Meanwhile, the visitors are set to be without Fran Rico, Pedro Leon, Sergi Enrich and Papa Diop all due to injury.
