Atletico Madrid v Barcelona
BETTING & MATCH PREVIEW
On Sunday night, Atletico Madrid host Barcelona at the Wanda Metropolitano, in what is the biggest game of the weekend in La Liga.
Atletico Madrid have hit an inconsistent run of form of late, as they have now won just once in six games in all competitions after a midweek Champions League defeat at Juventus.
Diego Simeone’s team have drawn too many games of late in the Spanish top-flight, drawing six of their last eight matches in La Liga. Despite the glut of draws, Atletico are still only three points behind Sunday’s visitors, although the Catalan giants do have a game in-hand.
Atletico are a tough nut to crack at the Wanda Metropolitano though, as they are unbeaten in 14 La Liga games on home soil, claiming a respectable ten wins in the process. Their recent home matches have been unsurprisingly low-scoring in La Liga, with under 2.5 goals scored in seven of their last nine games.
Barcelona are joint-top of the table alongside bitter rivals Real Madrid, winning seven of their last eight league outings. Ernesto Valverde’s team has also scored at least twice in all seven victories.
The visitors have won three of their last four away games in La Liga. However, those victories are the Catalan’s only away wins in their last nine outings on their travels in the Spanish top-flight.
They have been relatively prolific on their travels of late in the Spanish top-flight though, scoring at least two goals in four of their last six away matches.
Atletico have some potentially key absentees for this clash, as Diego Costa, Stefan Savic and Jose Gimenez are all likely to miss out for Los Rojiblancos.
Barcelona are without influential defensive midfielder Sergio Busquets due to suspension, Jordi Alba, Nelson Semedo and Clement Lenglet could also miss out due to injury.
