Amiens v Guingamp

On Friday night, Amiens host Guingamp in what could prove to be a massive game for the home side on the final night of Ligue One action in season 2018/19.

Amiens are currently 17th place in the French top-flight table, just two points above 18th place Caen’s with a slightly better goal difference of two goals. A draw would be enough for the home side if Caen’s fails to win their match.

However, if Caen records a big enough victory, then only a win would definitely guarantee that Amiens avoid having to play in a relegation play-off.

A 2-0 defeat at Monaco last time out means that the home side has now failed to win in nine Ligue One matches. However, seven of those nine winless matches in the French top-flight have finished in draws.

Amiens are unbeaten in seven home games in Ligue One but have drawn their last four home matches in the league. Their recent home games in Ligue One have been low-scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in six of their last eight matches.

Guingamp are already relegated to the French second tier after a poor campaign. However, they will be looking to exit Ligue One on a high note.

The visitors have failed to win in eight league matches. However, they have drawn their last three outings in the French top-flight.

Guingamp have failed to win in eight away games in Ligue One, having suffered five defeats in the process. The fact that they have failed to score in four of their last six away league outings has not helped their cause.

Neither team has any injury or suspension worries heading into this game. Both bosses may field similar line-ups to the ones in their last league outings.

Match Prediction

Both teams need wins to achieve their respective aims this season. However, I believe the home side will clinch the German title in a high scoring encounter.
